prodaSafe – THE security solution!

The principle used when prodaSafe works in automatic mode is very simple.

prodaSafe functions with a hidden area on the hard drive Cv. The prodaSafe "searches" independently for free memory space on the hard drive and selects an optimal area. The user does not have to do any more about this. When the protection is switched on, the prodaSafe uses this memory space to store information temporarily. The prodaSafe diverts all write access for Drive C to this hidden area Cv. In this way the originally installed status of drive C is always maintained. Access to Drive D does not influence the prodaSafe. This drive can store data permanently.

If a part of Drive C has been read, the prodaSafe checks whether this part has already been written on. If this is the case, the prodaSafe diverts the reading command to the hidden area Cv. This principle makes sure that Drive C has not been changed by the user, by programmes or programme errors, or even by viruses etc. As only Drive C changes are stored, it takes the prodaSafe the minimum amount of time and storage.

The 4.2 version has over three operating modes and a large number of options. All the functions have been developed in close cooperation with teachers and lecturers, as well as educational institutes and advisory bodies. The most important functions are as follows:

Automatic call up of the default setting
After each booting process the default setting is automatically available again. It does not matter whether previous important system data have been deleted, drivers changed or even the hard drive formatted.

Manual call up of the default setting
Via a command from the administrator or the user the default setting is called up again. Changes can still be reversed after days or weeks. This means that software can be tested for as long as necessary. After the tests are finished, the changes can be rejected or adopted.

Saving work results
In order to save work results locally, an unprotected data drive must be set up.

Protection of virtual CD drives
Virtual CD drives can be very effectively protected by using operating mode „read only“.
An integrated boot manager supports the operation of up to four operating systems.
The prodaSafe monitors the BIOS settings. Any unauthorised manipulation is corrected.
The protection can be switched on and off by using the remote control.

A user-friendly AdminConsole allows the control of the prodaSafe in large networks. It is possible, with suitable programmes, to carry out remote monitoring of the PC. Software can be installed from a central point or settings can be changed.

The installation of prodaSafe does not require any special expertise. After it has been installed, the prodaSafe comes on automatically. The user sets up the required operating modes and options. The operating system does not have to be reinstalled. Finally, the protection facility is activated. A password can be entered to switch off the protection facility and to undertake any changes.
The prodaSafe supports and facilitates the work of the system administrator and all other teaching staff.
At the start of every lesson the same system and desktop settings are available without having to make any administrative changes.
The students can use whatever commands and programmes they want.

The PCI card is a plug-in card for the PCI bus cable on the PC motherboard.

The network card with prodaSafe (NWC) is a standard off-the-shelf network card (10/100 MBps) for the PCI bus. This component should be considered especially when using new equipment. Using this version saves money and no extra PCI slot is needed

DRIVE is the software part of the prodaSafe. In many schools, particularly in primary and in special needs schools, the high level of security of a hardware component is not necessary. We have developed DRIVE in response to teachers’ requests. The protection is activated after the built-in hard drive of the PC has been booted.
